Problem with mini ipad email

My ipad is 3 years old and still operating on 8.3. Tonight when I touched the email icon it took me to set up instead of my mail.....so I entered my info and it said already set up.  Will not take me to my mail, only to set up.  Any suggestions?  Thanx!

My iPad 2, started acting wonky last year when it was about 3 years old.  At doobdoo's suggestion, I made sure everything was backed up "in the cloud", then I reset it taking it back to the day I got it.  I didn't lose a thing, all pictures, music, books and apps came right back.  I also cleared the cache and deleted the cookies.  My iPad is usable again although it's not as sprightly as a youngster.

Try resetting it.  Hold on off button and round button together till screen goes black and apple appears, then let buttons go.

Thank you for the suggestions!  Now this afternoon when I turned it on the mail worked, go figure.
