I recently got a new Tracfone and, even though it's not time yet for me to activate it, I wanted to turn it on and set different features up. In all the years I've been getting Tracfones, I've never before had a problem connecting to my wifi, until this time. Every time I tried, it would give me the following message: connected without internet. No matter what I tried--restarting, completely turning off & back on, & even resetting to factory settings--nothing worked. Finally I tried taking the Sim card out & reinserting and that worked. Now the whole time I was working with this phone, I had my current Tracfone out which had no issues connecting (it never has).
Has anyone else had issues connecting to their wifi, in particular with phones that have come out this year? I ask this because, after talking to customer service agents both at Tracfone and at the shopping channel where I purchased it, it sounds like some people are having this trouble with the newest phones since Verizon took over. Don't know if true--it's just what I was given the impression of after speaking to these individuals. In fact, the one person said they are directly with Verizon, not Tracfone, and had this same problem. Just wondering how others have fared.

My BF has had trouble twice w/his tracfone this year. It's not a new phone. This time when he called customer service, it turned out that the incorrect IME was associated with his account. Had no clue how that happened as the phone is about 2-3 years old and was purchased as an unloced device.

Very glad you figured out what was wrong. It sounds like the SIM card wasn't connecting well or just needed to be reinstalled. I'm not sure I would have thought to do that.
I purchased two moto 5g powers this year for my husband and me. No problems connecting to wi-fi, but my previous 5g stylus would sometimes disconnect from the APN, which would not allow me to use data until I went into the settings and reconnected it. No idea why it would do that, but it was a known problem with that model of the stylus.
You can often find info on your Tracfone and about the problems that others have had with it by reading Amazon reviews about your model of phone. Two forums that have dedicated Tracfone sections and are especially helpful are Turk Forums and Howard Forums. Not only can you read about phones/problems/promotions/etc, but you can ask questions, and there will be someone on these forums that will know the answer. Do a google search to find the websites, but they look like this:

@qualityshopper you know you can go ahead and activate it right now, and all your minutes, texts, data, and remaining service days will roll over to it, right? So, for example, if your service is set to expire on October 31 and you activate it today, you will have 376 service days on the phone instead of 365. Just wanted to make sure you knew that there is never any need to wait to activate a phone.

@qualityshopper Thanks for bringing this up. I've had my tracfone (Motorola 5G stylus) for nearly 2 years and yesterday could not connect internet for Sirius and anything it was needed for. After reading this post I took SIM card out and reinserted it and it worked. I would never have thought of it.

@Ainhisg--Thanks for all of the helpful info about those forums to visit and about not having to wait to activate. I'll probably still wait, but it's nice to know.
@Pook and @Ainhisg --You both mentioned that you probably wouldn't have thought to reinsert the SIM card. Well, I would never have thought of that either, but after searching online for possible solutions to my problem, I came across that option. Had tried other things, so I thought I might as well try that. Thank goodness it worked!
