Please, I need help with my LG800g tracfone. It won't accept CONTACTS......

Using the screen (which shows the 9 touchpads of a phone), when I touch the screen to input the first name, let's say "RITA), I should be able to bring up the "R" by touching the number "7" key three times, right? What I wind up getting is "Spr and a fainter "ead, to it pretty much spells out spread. What am I doing wrong? Could it be that somehow I got into the "dictionary" by mistake.

I have been trying this for hours and I also went online at Tracfone and did the tutorial to input contact names and numbers. It did not work for me.

HELP, PLEASE. Can someone walk me through it step by step. If it doesn't work, then it has to be a problem with this particular phone.

I also have at home a cordless phone (new) and I'm able to input names and numbers for contacts without a problem.

Thank you to anyone who can understand and fix my problem. Other than that, I like the phone.
