Picture files duplicating???? HELP

This is crazy. I am working on my vintage pictures. I have set aside six folders. I am only viewing the files (pictures) in each. I am not doing anything to them in any way. I open the folders and look at my pictures. I delete duplicates and everytime I go from one picture to the other I see duplicates and it does not seem to stop. I am only deleting and it seems never ending.

I have windowns 7 and am using the normal garden variety picture library.

Any idea why this is happening. I am not doing anything other than looking and deleting and the files are multiplying.
