I'm really not one to use my phone much at all, I just like having a camera with me at all times, people actually get mad because I don't text back sometimes till the next day, I simply do not live with my phone by my side, right now it is OFF and on the charger for the night LOL
If the camera is mainly what you want, then I'd go with the Samsung S5. It is smaller and handier to carry around, but yet plenty big. It most likely takes the best pics.
I wanted the bigger screen on the Note 3 because I am using mine as a tablet some. I love games and mine is actually big enough that I can read easily with the Kindle app. Awesome phone!

If you haven't upgraded in four years then you're probably on a cheaper plan as well. I can't, in good conscience, recommend an expensive high end smartphone that you're not going to use. That being said... I have the Samsung Note 3... but my phone is also my ereader, my children's TV when we are in the road, my camera and camcorder, lol this is my "everything" phone. We put it through its paces day in and day out. I've also had the HTC One... and yes, it's going to be very hard to beat the camera on that phone. It's also a fantastic device. Since you aren't an avid user I would take whichever Galaxy is being offered free with your provider... you probably wouldn't be able to tell the S4 from the S5 so paying the extra would be a waste of money for you. While it's great to have the "latest and greatest" it's just wasting money if you don't intend to use it. Good luck on choosing your new device. I hope you find one that suits your needs.
Most companies are offering the best price on an Samsung S5. The S4 has a 13MM lens, and the S5 has a 16MM lens. My S4 phone takes great pictures.
