Paging @Big Sister Need Help for Kindle Keyboard?

Hi @Big Sister Last night I took out my Kindle Keyboard to see if it's still working, and I see I need a little help. I know you're the "Kindle Keyboard Queen" and you know more about it than anyone I know.

I haven't used this in years so I'm quite rusty in the workings of this Kindle. Is there a User's Manual online that can help me with some of the buttons and settings? I know I had it but I can't find it. For example, I charged it up and it's running now, but when I wanted to shut it down, I forgot how! Is the Power Button the key at the bottom that slides left and right? If so, what is the other button at the bottom? I slid what I think was the Power button but the screen didn't turn BLACK. It just erased the writing, and the screen went blank, but it didn't seem like it was shut down. Being I charged it up and it took a few hours to get it to the green light, I don't want to waste the battery if it's only "sleeping" and not shut down completely. I don't even remember if this kindle even has a "sleep mode."

I'd appreciate any help from you or anyone else here who is still using the "antique" Keyboard! I think it's a great reader and it could still be my favorite...IF ONLY IT WAS BACKLIT!

In 2016, there was an important firmware update and if your Kindle Keyboard was not connected to wifi at the time of the update, the update would not have been applied to your device. If that's the case, you will need to do a manual update. I missed the update because my Keyboard was in storage and I had to do a manual update later when I was getting the device ready to pass on to a friend.
