Open Office using Yahoo mail

Can anyone tell me how, or if, I can set Open Office on Yahoo to download a document in MS Word without reverting to the original format? Here's the story - a colleague uses Open Office with Yahoo mail. I sent her a MS Word document that had been through several different formatting hands (fonts, spacing, bold). When she printed it out from Yahoo using Open Office the document printed out with the original formatting, double spaces, different font from what I sent her. Is there any way to get Open Office to print out the document as I sent it?
