I have the LePan tablet that is just another name for the Gigaset. I've had it a year, and a few times, have had the dreaded black/frozen screen you read about on the LePan reviews. When that happens, all you have to do is push the power and volume button, and the tablet resets. It has been a good tablet for me overall and is still going strong. That being said, I would not purchase another until the operating system is updated. The OS is very old on the Gigaset...Jellybean 4.2.2. The newest OS is Marshmallow 6.0. (I don't think there's a newer version of Marshmallow, but I could be wrong.) Some apps won't work on a system that old, and there are also security risks with an older OS. It cannot be updated.
I have the $49.99 Amazon Fire, and I would not buy another. The colors are so muted, and it is PAINFULLY slow. Unless you sideload Google Play, you have to use the apps available through the Kindle store, and some apps on Google Play have not been developed for Amazon.
Between the two, I much prefer using the LePan even though it has the old operating system. I wish I could recommend an inexpensive tablet for you that is not either one of these. Maybe someone else can chime in with an alternative.
My favorite tablet I own is my iPad mini 4, but I know that that is out of the price range for a lot of people. But wow...beautiful color and lightening fast. I am a tablet junkie. lol
