OMG - How do I turn off Facebook??

I wanted to post a photo to Facebook about a week ago and somehow signed into it from a different area of my iMac (than just being on their website). Now it won't stop showing me new notifications that others have written after I made a comment.

How do I turn that off?? I've already clicked on the notification and "unsubscribed" but it still keeps showing up. This is driving me up a wall. Thanks for any info you can offer!!!!!
