At risk of being obvious, be sure you do a hard reboot (turn off PC completely) after you update IE or install Chrome.

Can you log in to your bank from your daughter's PC or whatever device she uses to access the internet?

@DearPrudence

My daughters all use their iPhones to access the website and they are having no problems.  So the bank obviously decided it was more important to allow those users access than computer users.  They just won't admit that.  I am really ticked off.  So now I have to buy an expensive iPhone now to use the website?  What a ripoff . . . I had no intention of ever buying one of them.

No bank is going to exclude computers from their online banking.  There is something about your setup which is not compatible with their website.  You probably need an updated browser.  If none of the browsers work, check your security settings.  What version of Windows are you using?

IE has been the weakest browser against alot of infections.

I do not use IE but if I have to, I'd make sure to use the latest version of IE

to avoid any infections and hacking risk.

And no, they are not just focusing on iPhone and app users.

Alot of people use PC for banking still.

@glb613

I am using Windows 7.  I know what you're thinking, but they said they support Windows 7, unless they are not being truthful.  I will try Google Chrome again and hard reboot.  I am again on the phone waiting (a different number) for a tech.  If they put me through the same routine, I may scream.  They are supposed to be a grade higher than when one calls the 1-888 number.

I am never, ever late with my bills.  I had to pay my rent with a regular written bank check and have my daughter deliver it to them so it would be on time.  I am truly angry about this and hope I can keep my cool when and IF I ever get someone to answer the phone!!

Please update your browser, and try chrome, sometimes there are conflicts that are not apparent.  It's happened to me, computers are cranky.

@Meowshmarrow

I have not had any problems with other websites.  I just had a tech in here two weeks ago to clean up some malware and rogue infections.  You are right that IE is weak against these infections.  So while I am waiting, waiting, waiting, I'll switch to Google Chrome and try again.  Ugh, I hate this!!

@LilacTree What does it say when you try to log in exactly?

Also have you tried to have your daughters log into your accounts on their phone. Either with the APP or browser?

I have Windows 7 but the browser is IE 11. I think that's what you should automatically have.

@pigletsmom

I do, I just realized, because of automatic updates.  I switched to Chrome and we tried to get in and couldn't.  This last tech told me that wasn't the problem, so I switched back to IE.

Now I've been on hold for an hour for a higher level tech, but my phone is beeping and battery is going to die any minute.

There is no solution other than writing to TD Bank's main office, which I plan to do tomorrow.  The phone thing isn't working, the online thing is not working, and I am being told all different things (that don't work) by everyone I've talked to.  I am totally sick of it.

I am going to ask my daughter if she can get into my account on her iPhone.  If she can, she can pay the bills out of my account.

Can you put in your user name and passord? If yes what is the error message you get.

On their sign in page I see where it talks about clearing your cache but if you used a new browser that would have fixed that problem I think.

I'd flip out if I couldn't get into my account. Sorry this is such a headache for you. Definitely have one of your daughters try through the phone browser or with the app.

With all the trouble I wonder if your username and passowrd need to be updated.

Re: OK . . . need the experts for this one

I agree with the others who recommend downloading an updated browser. According to Microsoft's site, "After January 12, 2016, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for older versions of Internet Explorer. Security updates patch vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malware, helping to keep users and their data safer. Regular security updates help protect computers from malicious attacks, so upgrading and staying current is important."

@pigletsmom

I have changed my username and passwords dozens of times since this started.

However, I finally got connected with a higher level tech who has access to their system, which the other techs do not have.  She changed some things in their system to match with my platform, and it still did not work.  She then talked to the management team and sent my issue to them.  She gave me what will be my permanent username and password and they will implement it.

Coincidentally, this facility is very close by, and she also gave me the address to write to them if what they do still does not work.  She said I should have access within a couple of days, preferably by 4 PM tomorrow.

So fingers crossed . . . and thanks everyone for your input.  I will keep you posted.
