Nook Color TSV from southern channel. Issues with apps etc

I received the Nook Color TSV from the southern channel as a gift and I'm not finding it to be very user friendly. I have an iPhone and find iTunes and the app store very easy to use, the Nooks app store is a whole other story. First i need to download the new software version in order to stream Netflix. I'm trying to find the "kindle" app so that I can read my iPhone kindle books on the nook but I can't find that app either! Also trying to find the "overdrive media console" so that I can check out ebooks from the library. If anyone has any tips for using the Nook Color I would be very greatful TIA
