   @froggy ,  you can buy a year's worth of airtime on the TracFone website for $49.99

??? I don't see anything for less than $99.

@froggy

Go to the Tracfone website, choose the $99 1 year airtime and put it in your cart.

You'll then get a pop-up for an additional 1 year airtime for $49 and put that in your cart, then delete the $99 airtime from your cart, leaving only the $49 1 year airtime and check out.

Voila'!

@SouthernBee. The phone I've been using for the past 2 years is no longer sold.  If I was buying one today, I'd choose a Samsung and would pick the cheapest smart phone that HSN has, I think it's about $75.

@Kachina624 : Thanks for your help. Very frustrating. Need another phone but funds limited. Trying to find a good Verizon prepaid phone for my area and very limited choices and phones have very mixed reviews people either love them or tell you don’t purchase. I really hate to make any purchase and then have to return something but probably will have to do something. Really prefer prepaid. Already have a jitterbug flip with monthly fees plus a land line that we still need. Southern Bee

I have the LG Premiere Pro that I got through HSN for $59.99 and it's a great little phone. It uses the Verizon towers and does everything I need a phone to do.

@gardenman : Thank you. HSN- 653-907 LG Premier Pro 5.3 HD for $129.99 with flex pay and free shipping- only one available. Is this what you purchase? Do you purchase a new phone bundle every year? Necessary to  purchase extended protection plan? Appreciate your help. Southern Bee

@SouthernBee

When I bought it in early September it was $59.99 and I had a $10 off coupon so my total cost, after the sales tax, was something like $56.96. I had last year's model of the same phone from last September and I wasn't really planning on replacing it, but at that price for the extra time, minutes and data, it was too good of a deal to pass up. I was debating just going with the $49.99 one year service, but for the extra eight dollars, I got lots of extra stuff (a new phone, a new car charger, a new home charger, a new case, 1500 more minutes, 1500 more texts, and 1.5 MB of data.) I don't buy an extended service plan. but I'm gentle on phones. (I probably shouldn't say that as I'll curse my luck.) I've never broken one yet or had an issue. The phone comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty against defects, so if the phone just dies, LG should fix it. If I drop it, well the case should help protect it and if not I still have my old one I can replace it with and transfer my number and minutes over to the old phone.

Hint: If you poke around the various shopping channels they tend to rotate the phones being on sale. You can save $30 by buying it at the Q right now as it's listed here for $99.96 as I type this. Other shopping sites tend to offer the phone on sale at various times also.

Interesting topic to me....DH and I have cell phones thru consumer cellular...the only service is that it rings, ha, ha!  The bill runs about $35.00/month for both phones...we almost  never use the phone.

If I want to connect to the internet and also be able to text, how do I figure out how may mb of data is needed?

I surf the web and communicate with friends on my MacBook air so I would guess the cell service would be for travel only.

It is frustrating when we are out and about or in an unknown area that we don't know where we are going or we are looking for something and we cannot find what we need...being able to jump on line to look something up would be nice....advice appreciated.

@Mom2Dogs : Understand your issues and same for me. I can’t  offer advise  or help for your questions.DH needs the jitterbug flip phone for the larger numbers and better hearing. I have an iPad but wanted a simple smartphone. I didn’t like the jitterbug smartphones and averaged $45 per month. I wanted a second phone so when we are shopping- if needed can stay in contact with each other.Southern Bee

@SouthernBee   If you did not purchase the tracphone.....look into consumer cellular or even straight talk.   We are happy with C.C. but like I said we use the phone for phone calls only....I use it so infrequently, I forget how to answer it!
