I dropped my iPad 2 and smashed the screen. Amazingly, it still works. But I took it as a sign to get an air. I have not been able to get all my pics, music or games to transfer over. I tried on my own for a while (3rd iPad, have iPhone), then called Apple. After a total of 6 hours on the phone over 3 days, some things just won't go! Apparently there is something messed up with my iTunes. Somehow I have 2 accounts that cannot be merged! Kind of took some of the excitement out of my new toy! Unfortunately, nearest Apple store is 200 miles away!

I'm sure they already had you check everything I'm going to ask, but let's face it, not all of their techs are geniuses Smiley Happy lol... #1) are you backing up from iTunes or icloud? If icloud, did you confirm your settings on all devices to make sure that they are all backing everything up to the cloud? You may have the settings set to back up only songs, or only pics. #2) if you've only tried to back up from one source try the other... it may be necessary to reset the Air completely and try from the beginning... do you have different log in for each device?

I've backed up both ways! I'll double check the settings, though. Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

Log into your other iCloud account on your Air. Photos are attached to your iCloud account, not iTunes. At least the ones in iPhoto are. I'm all Apple, so my stuff just syncs with iPhoto on my iMac, my iPad and my iPhone. I have no idea how it works with microsoft products.

If you have two accounts, then it is correct that they can't be merged. Everything syncs through your user account, one account per user. For your games and music, in the fall when they release iOS8 and Yosemity, apple will introduce a new feature that will allow family sharing. It will be then that you'll be able to access that from both accounts. Just music, games, apps. But for the pictures that will be different. It won't be covered under the family share feature, just purchases. So to get picture to sync, I suggest saving them to iPhoto on the account you want them to be viewed across all of your devices as synced. This might mean saving them to your computer first.

Or you can also get a Dropbox account to upload all photos to and download them onto your ipad. It's what I use because I have both apple and android devices and I change devices often. My confusion is whether or not OP had everything on her previous iPad?

Dropbox is another great idea. I always forget about an option like that's because I just don't use it. I am all Mac, so everything I have syncs.

Thanks for the suggestions! I did use Dropbox for the pix, and they seem to back. Will patiently wait for ios8. I did have everything on original iPad. I do appreciate your input.

That's what I needed you to clarify... if you had everything on the original ipad I'm confused why they think you have two accounts that won't merge? Which takes us back to double checking all settings to make sure that everything is backing up to either icloud or itunes. It's also possible that your iTunes settings have been disabled. If, at any point, all of your media was on one device then there is no reason that you shouldn't be able to get it all on the Air.

I hope you can get it straightened out. Everything seems to take forever, doesn't it. I'm sorry. Let us know how it goes.
