Need advice about a TV

I know another poster started a thread like this, but I wanted to be a little more specific. We're looking for 55 - 65" HD.

We have always had Sony's (with an upstairs Panasonic) and have had great luck. Until recently. We have a 2009 XBR. A while back we started to see lines when there was writing on the screen (teasers, news, etc.). It's like looking through a curtain. We had a repairman out, and he used a tool to diagnose it. Apparently it's a problem with the control panel, which of course is not made any longer and if you do find one you're taking a chance. He spent a lot of time telling me about the reconditioned ones HE has for sale! Replacing this is also very expensive. An online Sony expert told DH it probably wasn't worth it. When we bought the TV it was the store model, so we got a good price. But we don't know how long it had been on display, and it was probably on all day, every day.

So we're looking. Any recommendations? This will be the family TV and will get a lot of use! TIA for any advice you can give me!
