What is the best quality in sound/reception in a phone provider? I need a new plan and want to stay under $40. I don't do FB, but would use the phone to Google maps, phone numbers etc...A co worker had a Volt phone from Virgin Mobil and it looked pretty easy to navigate. Can anyone share any advice with me? Thank you.

I have been a customer of Verizon forever and just switched over to Straight talk a few weeks ago. So happy I did! I purchased the phone I wanted and chose my plan-$45.00 for unlimted text, talk, etc. And the coverage is the same as I got before as they use ATT and Verizon towers. So much cheaper than Verizon. They now have done away with their 2 year plans and come out with a $30.00 month plan but then they add $20.00 just to be a customer of theirs and add taxes on top of that so I am still cheaper with Straight talk. I know several people who have switched to Straight talk and love it-have not heard of any cons other than IF you ever have to go through customer service and speak to a person it can be an issue but it seemed that those were the people who practically lived their lives on their smartphones.....I do not.

The quality of AT&T is great--but they are not the cheapest. I believe you can get very good quality for less.

Since you don't say what you want as far as useage limitations?
I have a Samsung Smartphone through TracFone. It uses AT&T and Verizon on this one. Cost me $79.95 for 1 year/1200 texts/1200mb data. That for me figures out to $6.66 per month.
Use more? Beats me.

Straight Talk has great prices, but so do most other companies. The cost of prepaid service is the about the same as postpaid. You have to factor in the cost of the phone, the quality of CS, and the network.

Nutmeg-I agree that many companies have competetive pricing-which is awsome. We have been shopping around for awhile and in our area and what is available as far as service and coverage goes the Straight Talk was the best for me. They have all of the phones available just like the other carriers so that wasn't an issue. As far as customer service went I did everything online. I like the fact that the competition is making these phones less expensive.

I have always bought my own phone (just got a Moto E off of Amazon for about $100) to stay out of a contract. For years I have had Tmobile's lowest prepay plan which is $30.00 a month for 60 monthly minutes and unlimited text and data up to 4gb which I never ever get near.
If you are not a talker and Tmobile is in your area, it's the cheapest thing I've ever found if you are just looking for the basic phone to carry around for emergencies. I think this was the precursor to Straight Talk so you may find a similar plan at Walmart if Tmobile is not your thing or unavailable in your part of the world.

ST is the best! I switched to ST from ATT. Same towers, same service. For $45, you get unlimited text, talk and 5 gb of data. I'm not telling you pegsue, I'm just adding to the information for others.
Also, you can choose if you want Verizon or ATT by which model phone you decide to buy.
In our area ATT service used to be the best. I think Verizon is just as good now.
For the original OP, you need to check around and find out which service is better in your immediate area. It varies with location.

Hi ~ Can anyone suggest something for me? All I want is a BASIC old-timey (think years ago) little flip-phone to take along in my back pocket for those just in case moments. I doubt I would use it more than a few times a month.
I just want actual buttons like on a home phone. I don't need texts, or internet. Just a PHD Phone (PHD ~ Push Here Dummy).
I looked at the JitterBug. The phone itself is $99, and 400 minutes at $19.99. 50 minutes is $14.99, so 5 more dollars gets me enough minutes if I go out of town.
Some of the reviews on this JitterBug say that the Customer Service is a nightmare..........Any suggestions? THANK YOU!
