Hi Everyone; I am normally so careful, but awhile back I clicked on a bad link in what I thought was a trusted site. Immediately I realized that there was a virus on my phone (Motorola Android) and it's been wreaking havoc ever since. I am looking for.a recommendation for a tried and true anti-virus product. Thank you!

Also, would it help for me to get a new phone? I am a very non- technical user, so I hope my question isn't silly. 🙂

P.S. This is my brother's account; I am a long-time poster formerly known as Topaz Gem. I couldn't log in with my former user info after a long absence , so I'm temporarily using his.

For my Android I use the free version of Avast.  But I also use the free version of Malwarebytes.  I run this frequently just in case something harmful slipped through.   

I'm definitely not an expert so I know someone who is more knowledgeable than I am will jump in and give advice on what to do since you think you might have a virus. 

Re the free versions I mentioned,  they use ads and can be annoying and sometimes confusing but I found them easy to get used to.

Wow, I had no idea a smart phone could even get a virus. I have an apple iPhone and don't believe that's even a thing. Good luck.
