I'm wondering how you all deal with this.
I get tons of email. Some of it is very important, some is important, and some is just there, but not spam.
I'm really good at deleting spam - maybe get 100 or more a day.
I'm good about moving the important ones to folders.
But when it comes to regular e-mail I'm terrible! First, I don't have the time and usually just skim through. Second, I get some coupons that I don't want to delete. I forget about them, and they just get absorbed in the stack. Third, friends send me family pictures, cute sayings and stories (that we all get),etc. Before I know it I have a huge mix that I just don't have the time to deal with!
I want to hit delete all, but then I would lose some important ones. I have in the past been glad I kept some to use as "proof" of meeting correspondence, notes, etc.
Any advice? TIA!

I didn't notice what email program, or webmail, that you use but my best advice is that if you have the capability you can create additional folders.
That's what I do with my webmail because I couldn't stand to have a bunch of stuff in my inbox all the time. The clutter would drive me (more) crazy! ![]()
I create folders with basic, but specific, names and file things accordingly.

Every day I dum hundreds of emails like you get. I check all then I look down the page quickly and if there are any important ones I un click them. Then I delete. I can still go back and get them there is a delete box I can look through again to make sure I did not delete anything important. Then I actually dump the whole delete box once I am sure.

I've gotten my email box down to 3800 emails and I am working on getting it lower. I probably won't be able to devote the time to getting it down to almost nothing for a while. A good winter project.

Which email client are you using?
Are you on a Mac or PC (Windows)?

You seem to have a pretty good handle on how to use Yahoo's "folders." I think your problem is that too many folks are using your one email addy. You need several. One for......
Offline (your real-life) family & friends
Online friends
Business (if applicable)
Spam & website "sign ups" which includes message boards/forums/blogs
All email clients have spam filters/settings. Use them. On a Mac, these settings are located in the clients Preferences for stand alone clients.
For web based email clients like Yahoo & Gmail, check the "Options, "Your Account and/or Settings button(s)."

@Mz iMac - That's it! I've been using the same ONE addy since day one. A lot gets lumped into it. I'm going to take your advice and set up others. Also, I had a great spam blocker until I hit the dreaded "Kohls survey" button once. After that, my spam box was flooded. When I went to my settings to try to block them, there were just too many and I got a notice that I had reached the maximum number to block. I think having separate addies will help with that too. Now I will have to find the time to do all this and clean out. That won't be easy! Thanks for your help! ![]()
