It's pretty neat. I was a little confused as I'm used to swiping across to unlock it and now you have to swipe up to unlock the screen and I couldnt find my documents for a bit, but it's a pretty neat looking upgrade. They snuck it onto my Kindle sometime overnight and it's pretty impressive. This is OS 5.1.1. It has a neat new feature called "Find My Tablet" that lets you do all kinds of neat things to find a lost/stolen/misplaced Fire tablet.

Mine hasn't changed.  Still swiping horizontally and everything looks the same as always.  Because my Kindle Fire is more than 2 years old maybe????

It could be. They roll out the updates in waves too, so your update could still be coming.

If you want, I think there is a place in settings where you can find out if you have the latest version of software.  You can update there if you like.
