Mouse Problem

I like to use a wireless mouse with my laptop @ home. Just don't like the built in one. A couple of nights ago it just out of the blue quit working. I was thinking it was worn out bought a brand new one and it dosen't work either. It gives a message device not found. I tried plugging it in to different ports still not working. Help anyone?
