Hi,
I'm working with a free and voluntary on-line service to identify any problem with my computer. They said they cannot proceed with me unless I uninstall Microsoft Word Enterprise 2007. I don't even know what MS Office Enterprise is but I see that it was installed a year or so ago on my computer. They said it's an "illegal program according to their policy" and want to know where I downloaded it from. I didn't download it from anywhere. I don't even know what it is or what it does.
Could Microsoft have installed this as an update along the way?
They are saying they will proceed with me only if I uninstall this program. Should I uninstall it?
Sorry for the dumb questions. I don't know that much about computers. Thanks.

If you google MS Office Enterprise there is a site that shows it as a free download but it looks like a bogus site where you don't get the license from microsoft. Why do you need to keep it on your computer. Do you use it. If you look on the site from the comments it seems like it could be the problem. I really don't think microsoft installed it as an update. Does anyone else use your computer?

Lovescats, I also googled Microsoft Enterprise and discovered it is a program used by large companies that work with databases. In fact, it seems like this program is no longer available if I understood what I read correctly. I have no need for this program but I'm concerned that if I go ahead and uninstall it, it could affect my Microsoft Office Word and Excel. I don't know if they are bound to each other in any way.
I've called Microsoft and they have no clue. All they could tell me was that they don't install Enterprise as any update. I contacted the Geek Squad from Best Buy where I purchased my computer and the tech said the programs are bound together so I should not uninstall Enterprise. I called Toshiba and they said they do not pre-install Enterprise.
So HOW did Enterprise get installed? I am the only person who has ever used this computer.
I'm very perplexed as I understand that a person needs a special license and key to install Enterprise like a business would have a license for it, so how did it get installed? I certainly don't have a license or key.

If you go under control panel - programs - uninstall or change programs it should give you the date it was installed and you could compare it to the date word and excell were installed.

Lovescats, I checked the add/remove programs list and it doesn't make any sense to me.
There are only two Microsoft programs listed. The first is Microsoft Office 2010 installed in October, 2010. That's when I bought my computer. When I called the Best Buy Geek Squad this morning the tech said I most likely had a 60 day Microsoft Office trial period only.
The second Microsoft program listed is Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 installed in September, 2013. Since there are no separate programs listed for Microsoft Office Word 2007 and Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (those programs are listed on my Start menu) I have to assume they are part of the Enterprise 2007 package. That's why the Geek Squad said the programs are bound together and that deleting Enterprise would delete Word and Excel.
But WHY would Enterprise have been installed in 2013 if I purchased the computer in 2010? I just don't get it.
The Geek Squad tech said I should bring my computer in and they would be able to give me more info. I'll probably do that.

Justina rae I hope the geek squad can get it fixed for you because I know stuff like that can be frustrating.
