Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials? Running at the same time?

Hi, Is it Okay to have Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes downloaded at the same time/ running at the same time? I got a virus and the TEC who fixed my computer took Malwarebytes off. But Malwarebytes always caught the tougher stuff then Microsoft. Should I re download Malwarebytes or leave it off. I am using Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-virus protection.
