MacBook Pro and Ereader (Kobo Aura H20)

After a software update, my computer does not recognize my Ereader.  I tried changing charging cords, USB ports, updating software, etc to no end.

Anyone have any ideas?  TIA.  LM

Re: MacBook Pro and Ereader (Kobo Aura H20)

Hi, LM.

Don't know the answer but just curious - why does the Mac need to recognize the Kobo?

I have a Mac Air and a Kobo Libre and I let them function independent of one another.  The whole softwear bit to check out books always seemed a bit obtuse so though I get notifications via email that a book is available, that same notification is sent to the Kobo and I download directly.

Software just isn't always compatible.  Hope you garden is shaping up nicely.

I use Kindle not Kobo but there's a Kobo app for your Mac  just like I use the Kindle app for my PC and iPad.  Hope this might help you.

@FranandZoe , I have been using my iPad but I prefer the Ereader.  I find the iPad too big.

Now that I think about it, Mz. iMac gave me some advice that I am going to try again.  I also just updated my MacBook Pro software so maybe that will help.  LM

@Sweetbay magnolia Thanks for your feedback.  If the MacBook doesn't recognize Kobo, there is nowhere to load the books as it doesn't show up as a separate drive to transfer data to if that makes sense.

I was out cleaning up the backyard yesterday.  This morning we are having freezing rain.  Like they say, if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it will change.  I took my snow tires off Tuesday.  LM

Are you saying you can't load books directly on the Kobo?  I have a kindle and the books download directly from where I buy the books.  Now my audiobooks are downloaded to my computer and imported to the Books app.  If you recently updated the operating system, it could be the problem.  While updating doesn't affect programs or devices as much as with Windows based computers, it does happen.

Can you go to the Kobo bookstore and download your books directly to your Kobo? I know with my Kindle and Fire tablets I can do that without having to buy them again.

@gardenman , yes I can do that.  My usual practice from the library is to download to computer and then load but I will try the direct way.  LM
