So who else updated? I did the day it was released. I like that my watch can auto unlock my mac and control itunes and I know we had some upgrades to photo editing but otherwise I really don't see much change. I do think handoff works better now.

Re: Mac OS high sierra

[ Edited ]

Hi, @jaxs mom!   I just responded to an inquiry about this in Community Chat.   I'll add the same post here...  gotta leave in a minute for an appointment.   I agree with you, the enhanced photo editing features look good.

My general comments:  I installed High Sierra (macOS 10.13) on my Mac as soon as it was released early on Monday.    Very seamless download and install, took a total of about an hour (not everyone will have the same download or installation time, since there are so many variables).    Once the installation is complete, users can take a walk through a brief review of the new features.  Most of the changes are "under the hood" rather than obvious, and I'll post a link to a detailed article about that.    In general, I like it very much.  I appreciate the the increased privacy features in Safari, and I see a noticeable improvement in performance.

Detailed review and description of macOS 10.13 High Sierra:

"If you've felt like the last few macOS releases have been a little light, High Sierra won't change your mind.   That's not because there's nothing here but because most of Apple's development work this time around went into under-the-hood additions and updates to foundational technologies...."

I have a Mac that is running 10.12.6 and I have not received any prompts for the downloads

@I am still oxox,  They roll out the notifications over a number of days to prevent an overload on the servers.   I went directly to the Apple site and downloaded from the App Store.   It works just as well that way, if you don't want to wait for your App Store notification to be available.

Search for "How to download macOS High Sierra - Apple Support" or find it in the App Store or remove the spaces in this link to Apple (not sure if it's approved by the standards to post as a hyperlink here, so I inserted spaces):

Yes, I posted in another thread that I felt that this update was more for continuity purposes with IOS 11 and watch OS4.

Gonna try it over the weekend.  dooBdoo said the process takes about an hour.  I'll have to carve out the time.  I do want to keep the OS up-to-date/

Just finished the process.  Took almost 1 1/2 hours from start to finish.  For me, VERY time consuming but necessary for security, etc.

Thanks for the heads up - I took the opportunity to update an old iMac (2011) that had been running on an embarrassment of an OS.  In fact, I had to pay Apple Inc. for an old update in order to update to the latest.  The process was slow and confusing but it got done.

Keep your OS up to date, for sure, was the message I got.

Another Mac I own went from Sierra to High Sierra with no glitches.

Installed HS on a new iMac running 10.12.6 two days ago.

Let's just say, for the first time since 1999, I had to downgrade an OS.

I am skipping HS all together!

I updated, and like others, it went well; don't really notice any major changes. Biggest issue was that my hp printer wouldn't connect wirelessly, but after complaining a bit, hp came out with an update that allows me to connect wirelessly.
