I'm wondering if the 'lifetime tech support', is REALLY US based? Or is it just the first initial call? I've seen HP and DELL, with offers of US support, but apparently it is only on select computers. I'm so-o-o-o-o-o-o tired of talking to India, with computer problems. The language barrier is just too much. How can I be assured of a computer with US support?? Does anyone know when there is going to be another TSV??????????? Thanks

The advertising on Tech Support on QVC says that the initial response (whatever that means) is US Based.

I think Apple's Tech Support is still US Based. Their Tech Support is by far the best in the industry. If you buy Apple Care you get Tech Support and warranty repairs for 3 years. We've had it our iMac and we now have it on our iPad.

If you buy a Dell computer on it's website, they have a support package available at extra cost that is advertised as US Based.

Apple and Dell are the only ones I'm aware of that are still US Based.

You can also find a lot of videos at YouTube that show you how to fix a problem. Google also has a lot of answers.

glb613 is right. Most issues are easier to solve yourself by using Google or Youtube. The vast majority of tech support is done by untrained/semi-trained people operating off of scripts on their computer. They'll ask you a question and want a yes or no answer. They'll then click on your response and ask the next question the script generates. If your problem is one that's in the script, and you answer each question correctly, and the operator enters the right response, this will eventually lead to a solution. If your problem isn't in the script, or one of you makes a mistake anywhere along the way, then your call will likely end up being transferred to an India based tech support representative to try and resolve it.

There aren't a lot of unique problems that pop up these days. If you're having a problem, someone else has almost certainly also had that same problem and worked through it.
Google will typically lead you to their solution. It's faster, easier, and less stressful than dealing with tech support. If the problem is unique to you then you're probably out of luck anyhow as tech support is likely to be useless.
