Lenovo has the very worst tech support. We will never buy another Lenovo laptop.

A couple days ago Option Connect to Wi-Fi just disappeared.

Read things online and tried all of those and nothing worked. Tried what I looked up on YouTube also.

Contacted Lenovo yesterday went through a bunch of stuff and they finally told me to do a factory reset. Once that was done it has been stuck on one screen that I cannot get past no matter what. Even if I reboot it is still there and cannot get past it.

So today I contacted Lenovo tech support again and they told me there was nothing they could do to help and to take it to a Lenovo service center which we do not have around here. When I was explaining that I wanted to talk to someone else that could help they hung up on me.

It is so difficult to understand any of them cause English is not their first language.

So right now I have been stuck not being able to use our laptop.

Wondering if You think taking it to our local repair shop could fix this issue with the stuck screen?

Thank you..

Over the years, Chinese computer and smartphone manufacturer Lenovo has been caught pushing bad software on its users. It's not just bad: it's flawed. Whether drivers, workarounds, or bloatware, Lenovo has a terrible record for protecting its users.

The only problem bringing it to an unaffiliated repair shop would be to void a warranty if you have one.  If it were me, I'd probably look into shipping it to one they recommended and go from there.

If I had only known that about Lenovo before we would have never but their products. The first Lenovo laptop we had was great and never had any issues with it.

This Lenovo laptop does not have much time left in the warranty so that would not be an issue.

Thank you so much for replies!

How old is it?  I don't have much faith in repair shops.  You might be better off buying a new one.  Costco always has some priced reasonably.

The "stuck on one screen that I can't get past" is interesting. Without being able to see your screen, my suspicion is you're stuck on the BIOS screen. If so, you can navigate around that screen with the arrow keys on your keyboard and the enter key. Most newer BIOS let you use a mouse or touchpad to move around the BIOS but some older ones still require the use of the arrow keys.

For the computer to be stuck on the BIOS screen typically would require the hard drive to no longer be the boot drive. That could be due to a corrupted setting or a failed hard drive. BIOS stands for Basic Input/Output System. It's what your computer goes to first upon powering on. It looks to see in the BIOS which hard drive to use to load the operating system. If there's not one there, it stays on the BIOS screen.

I don't know the BIOS Lenovo used in your PC, but there should be something labeled "Boot Priority" "Boot Order" or something like that in the BIOS. If you can find that and make sure your hard drive is listed and is first in the list, you should be able to get past the BIOS screen if the hard drive is still functional and you put it first in the boot order. There will be an "Exit" option in the BIOS, likely a "Save and Exit" option. Click on the "Save and Exit" after restoring the hard drive to first in the boot priority and you should be good to go.

If it is a simple BIOS issue, a good repair shop should be able to get it up and running in minutes. Well, seconds if they're familiar with that particular BIOS and that's the issue. It could also be a failed hard drive and that would need replacing. Since it's still under warranty, sending it back to Lenovo for repair would be your best option there.

I really appreciate all of your replies. Not sure yet what we will do yet.

I can't do anything with it at this point because after that system restore Lenovo told me to do, when it came up where you pick United states, english, it became stuck on the next screen and will not go away no matter what we try.

Even rebooting will not remove that screen.

I'm afraid I would not trust sending it to Lenovo. Not with their horrible tech support. I read other stories online after this has happened and there are so many unhappy people with their Tech support. And even when they sent it in to Lenovo they were not fixed and were sent back to customer.

Thank you for the BIOS information and maybe the repair shop in our town which is a really good one, might be able to fix it.

I am still not sure how it happened when this all started that your area at the bottom right of your laptop to connect to internet totally disappeared.

Definitely considering buying a new one then dealing with all of this, plus taking it to the repair might cost close to the amount of a brand new one.

Amazon and Walmart both are having big sales starting on the eighth so it's not a bad time to buy a new computer if you want one.
