Re: Leaning towards a Apple Mini

My son-in-law has a new Mac Mini, and he says it does everything he wants it to do---pay bills online, search Internet, emails, photos etc. He does not use it as a business computer. I'm a low-tech grandma, and I used his Mac Mini for 5 days over the Thanksgiving holiday.  I found it very easy to use, and I have always been a PC desktop user.,  The Mac Mini was just a bit slow booting up, but once done, it loaded pages just as fast as my Dell PC.  I placed online orders, no problem.  Read my emails, no provblem.  Sent photos and videos, no problem.  I had to get used to the Safari browser since I've always used IE on my Dell.  Son-in law did tell me he purchased some kind of additional external hard drive for extra storage space.  The solid aluminum mini box is really neat looking and takes up very minimal space---much different from my big tower sitting here on the floor.

Re: Leaning towards a Apple Mini

Thank you , Santa bought me one today. I got the DVD/CD feature, 3yr protection plan, and something called a solid core thingy that converted the 4GB into the 8GB/1TB thing I wanted.

Bought from a Apple reseller and tech is coming out to install for me Wed.

Hopefully, he can transfer some stuff from my old windows to this one, if not I have back up disc he can use I guess. he said something about either a transfer data cable or use a flashdrive.  Some have said you can't go from a windows to Apple, but, we'll see I guess.

thank you for your response. He said no security is needed either for the apples no more updating spyware, malware and AVG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already feel liberated from that jazz !!!!!!!!!

Re: Leaning towards a Apple Mini

Nice Santa!  I think you will be pleased with your Mac Mini.  There was nothing I didn't like while I was using it for several days.  Now I am thinking about getting rid of my old Windows 7 PC and replacing it with the Mac Mini.  If you have an iphone or any Apple laptop or tablet, it's great to have all of your devices under the Apple umbrella--so easy to go back and forth between devices.  That's what I'm heading toward.  I've never heard anyone say you can't transfer data from your PC to a Mac.  I'll bet your computer guy will know how to do that.  When your Mini is all set up, please post here again and let me know how everything went.  Good luck!
