I have a Toshiba laptop and for the second time in a year got infected with malware. I also picked up a virus somewhere but McAfee anti-virus SAID it removed the virus BUT I do have some files missing from my library. If the program removed the virus, wouldn't it have saved some of my files in my library? I have my music in Windows Media Player but a download of a TV show that was in Amazon Unbox in my library is not there or I can't find it. I was told by our computer consultant at work how to get back in the laptop when it wasn't letting me....F8 and was able to run a virus scan again. He told me to go into malwarebytes.org but it is coming up as something I have to pay for. There is also a link that SEEMS to be free on the malwarebytes site, but I am scared to click and download it. I am really frustrated about this laptop stuff. I can use them once I am in but to fix something or find it in the computer...I am lost.
Any advice on a SAFE and hopefully free download of malware protection. Does spyzilla work? It showed up as McAfee safe but again, don't trust anything now.
