Both r excellent brands, I would compare them feature by feature to make a decision, plus look at reviews.I have a dell at work n an HP at home, like them both. Just bought a Lenovo super high def. Like this one the best!

I like to thank everyone for posting I told my friend we liked HP's but she just have to decide herself on what brand. I never had a Dell but I have read some problems with them maybe by now they have improved and they put out better computers.

I like my HP and I had a Toshiba that I liked a lot. I bought a Dell from Costco and when I took it out of the box it felt cheap. 3 of the keys did not produce the correct letter. I brought it back to Costco and got the HP and I really like the HP.

I don't think QVC has the best deals. I actually think HSN does a little better. ShopHQ is not good for electronics in my opinion.

Since she wants to buy it on EZ pay from QVC, I'd probably direct her to an HP laptop. If she isn't in a big hurry, you can be sure they will have one as a TSV. They always do as the school year approaches.

Hi AuntG that is what we have is a HP hubby likes HP every time we get a new computer he wants a HP. I know on July 13 there is a computer shop and there will be a TSV but I have no idea if it's a Apple product a desktop a tablet or a laptop or a printer.

I'm hoping it will be a HP laptop so I could tell my friend. I told her there was a TSV coming up in Computer Shop if she can wait till July 13 I keep hoping someone will post something if they know what it is so I could tell her. If you have the July insider does it say anything.

Windows 8.1 is pretty easy even for old time windows users...older folks need a good monitor and a back lit key board.... try a fast dell...

I agree with you a backlit keyboard for a computer/laptop be nice. I had to go buy one for my HP all in one. Never had a Dell I can't say if there fast or not only had HP's. I wonder when QVC will have a laptop with a backlit keyboard as a TSV. I love windows 8 I never had any problems with it.
