Laptop Purchase Advice

I am aware that the Q has a laptop today. I bought a HP from them two years ago.
A friend upgraded it to more memory and more power, added Windows 7. What I ended up with was a really nice machine Recently because a family member had a great need for it, I gave it on loan, most forever. I love the HP line but really really want a powerful machine to replace the one "on loan." I also want reliable and with full programs not offers to upgrade or buy the regular normal version later. I also do not need lots of mindless extra programs like ancestory stuff. Does anyone have a suggestion what to get.
