LAPTOP TROUBLE

I'm not "tech savvy" so i hope some kind person can help me. I have a Compaq Presario, windows Vista. 2 days ago when i log off & lock computer, close lid, it only stays in sleep mode for about hour and half then it shuts down!! not good TIA
