Kindle question

[ Edited ]

I downloaded a library book on my Kindle Paperwhite, through my laptop but it's not showing up. It's listed as "checked out" in my library account, but no show on Kindle. Amazon doesn't show that book in my "content and devices", either. I tried searching, settings, and checking my book lists in my Kindle device: nothing.

Why would my library say the book is checked out, when it's not listed as available on my Kindle or Amazon? I can't try returning it and starting over if Amazon won't recognize it. Any suggestions? I haven't had this problem in the past and I've used the same computer.

@teganslaw , when I get a book from my library, I have to go through the Libby app. When I set up the app and I chose my library, I then had to choose Kindle as my preferred option. It sent me to Amazon and I signed in. Now, if I choose Kindle it goes to Amazon and I have to select "borrow" (looks similar to when purchasing on actual Amazon site). Not all books are available for Kindle. Books that I have borrowed should show up under "Content Library" (list under your name on Amazon). If the book is there, I mark the book, on the right I choose Deliver to device, and mark what devices I want it downloaded to. Not knowing how you borrowed your selection, I would either go to the library or call them. I'm sure they should be able to help you. Good luck, once you get it figured out, you'll be thrilled how easy it is.

I do Libby on my iPad but I assume it must work the same?

For me after I check the book out, I have to select "read with kindle" right under in that screen.  Otherwise it goes elsewhere.  It also shows in my loans, with date.

Then Libby sends me right to Amazon where I have to sign in.

Two thoughts:

Was it an audio book?

Device showing as expected?

Update: it's working! I called the library and a staff member helped me. I had borrowed the books (not audio) through Overdrive, and had the books delivered through the Libby app instead. Maybe Overdrive wasn't working properly, although I never had problem with it in the past.

Anyway, the books are now on my Kindle for ready for reading. I might try getting books through Libby from now on since I know how it works. I appreciate the advice from others.

@teganslaw, glad to hear it. My understanding is that Overdrive has been discontinued and most libraries are using Libby. Happy reading!
