The only Kindles that are non glare are the ones strictly for reading. My paperwhite is non-glare. The Kindle Fires (HD and HDX) have glare.

Thank you for your response Mima. (That's what we called our grandmother). I checked it out and you are correct. Bought one for my husband for his birthday. Good deal with the case. He said he wouldn't read outside anyway.

I think you can buy an anti glare film to protect the screen that might help. Go to ebay--prices are much better.
