Is this HDX a new model. Can anyone compare the HDX with the (new) HD?

The 7"" HDX was not upgraded. The 8.9"" was upgraded. I'm guessing it will not be the new model for the TSV.

Here is the comparison chart from Amazon.

It is not a new product. Amazon last year had special offers on the current products online at their site. They also had sales for major holidays.

I didn't mean it was new this year. It is the newest 7" HDX available. They aren't showing a new one for this year. There is a new 8.9" HDX, but not for the 7".

i want to buy a kindle but i don't know what is better the tsv from qvc or one from amazon kindle hdx 7 wifi with 4g Lte. I think the 4g lte is for security purpose im not sure if anyone can tell me what is better im not looking for the right price im looking for the best features on the kindle so if someone can help me choose what is better that be great.

The Kindle HDX is noticeably better than the HD. The HDX runs much smoother and faster than the HD.

4G means you can buy internet service and use it when you aren't around wifi. The TSV doesn't have it. Of course, you have to pay for this service.

Edit: One more thing I like better on the HDX is that you have the option of using the carousel or you can have icons on the screen to just touch resembling the IPad screen.

The reason I ordered it was for Skype (my Chromebook only has Hang-Ups) and for the web, email and FaceBook. I will still use my laptop for banking and photo. I am aware this only has one camera but I would rather use my digital anyway. It just shipped, and I can't wait to get it. And since I have till the end of Jan. to return it, I can't go wrong.

I have the HDX 8.1 and love it! I read the specs with the new version and don't see any major differences. I own the 32 mbps 4 g and would never get a 16 gb. The 64 gb would be the only improvement (plus an sd slot would be great). We own a galaxy 10.1 and Kindle is superior. I would only buy from Amazon, they are running lots of specials on various kindle fires. I have never seen the Q beat their price on comparable product.

Thank you. Amazon has so many products on sale I missed this one. Amazon now has a sale.

Decided this is what I wanted for Christmas and my DH was only too happy to buy it for me. This is my first tablet and I thought it was a very good deal.

I just pre-ordered the Kindle Fire HDX that will be today's special value. I was debating between this and an Apple IPad. What are your thoughts?

I finally broke down and ordered the Kindle Fire HDX, too.

The biggest difference is price, of course.

The iPad is a very good product, without a doubt, but you are also paying for the cachet of the name, too.

The iPad is larger and heavier than the HDX.

What I, personally, don't happen to like about the iPad is that it doesn't natively support Flash or Java. I know, I know, they are potential vectors for infection, but a lot of websites I visit use them so as a consequence I can't play my regular online games at POGO and Big Fish.

I don't have any Apple products (my experience is with my niece's and nephew's iPads) so something not working with that ecosystem is no problem for me. I'm not someone who is interested in syncing things across devices, anyway, because I prefer to keep personal information and images compartmentalized to specific devices for security reasons.

If this is your first foray into the world of tablets, this is a good entry point. The HDX is similar to the Nook HD/HD+ (which I have) in that they are actual Android tablets as opposed to simple ereaders - you can basically do most things that you can do on a personal computer.

I'm getting the HDX because I want easy access to Amazon Prime Videos, which this provides directly, and also because my cable system has an app for it that will allow it to act as a second TV and allow me to pick up live broadcasts of the channels on my service. I'll now be able to watch TV in other rooms of my home. On my Nooks, I have to go through one of the Flash-enabled browsers to access APVs and I don't have access to my cable system's live broadcasts.

Just happened to see one of the last presentations of the KindleFire HDX 7 in. last night & thought price was very good & shipping cost reasonable (Amazon ship is free).

I bought this unit 32g direct from Amazon last Dec. at a special discount for prime member at $219 & six mo. free financing. So was surprised that the Q had such a good price - no updates as yet for the 7 inch w/exception that OS was upgraded (I think that Amazon is to supply update for all previous owners - still checking that). 64 gb did not become available for this 7 incher until early this year so sorry I do not have that.

However the unit is really good & I swore I would never buy either a Nexus or a Kindle product as they are so proprietary. Apple was the same way until they cut a deal w/Amazon. Believe Amazon has listened to customer feedback on some issues & have sweetened the pot with so many add-ons in services offered - especially if you are a prime member for $99 a year.

Discovered last night while listening the the Q that you can now download a prime movie & watch offline - that is a new feature I had not discovered so I read about it today. You borrow the movie for 15-30 days - not keep it. Amazon lets you know when time is almost up. A select list but great if you are travelling.

As far as the new 8.9 is concerned - not sure of all changes - there is now a rear camera too. New ones quite pricey - $479 for 64 gb. Doubt the Q will have that one - only being released in Oct. - Amazon taking advance orders online.

So anyone who grabbed this 7 inch - enjoy - the CS is great - called only once when I had a freeze I could not unlock - they were great. I think you can have a lot of fun with this - for serious stuff - you still need a workhorse laptop.

As for apples, I keep mine in the crisper!!!{#emotions_dlg.devil2}
