Kindle Paperwhite vs. Kindle Voyage

I'm not a huge Amazon person.  I bought a Kindle Paperwhite in November and am enjoying it, but I wouldn't say I'm a heavy user.  I became a Prime member in January when they had a sale for new customers.  I thought I should become more entwined with the Amazon world since I bought my Kindle.  Prime is very handy and I'm liking it very much.  Again, not a heavy user.

I just noticed they're having a sale on Kindles for Prime members.  90 dollars for a Paperwhite.  That's a great deal.  I got mine when they were on sale for 100.  The Kindle Voyage is also on sale for 150.

Does anyone have both a Paperwhite and a Voyage?  What do you like and dislike about each?  How are they different?  I saw in the Voyage description that it seems to have physical page turn buttons.  Is that right?  I really loved that feature on my Nook Simple Touch.  I read on my side most of the time and my page turning on my Paperwhite can be very awkward at times.

I have the Paperwhite and love it but I've wanted the Voyager for a while now.

It sounds like a new version of the Kindle is coming out soon, maybe a souped-up Voyager.

Re: Kindle Paperwhite vs. Kindle Voyage

I am enjoying my Kindle Keyboard every day and I like the physical touch of turning the pages.   I know the Voyage has that feature and that will be my next e-reader.

I am staying with the Kindle products and am a Prime member.

I just plugged my Kindle into the charger and now I can read my book on the Fire 7 in the meantime.

The primary differences are the turn buttons and the auto dimming on the Voyage. Neither of those are things I need or want. I'm very happy with my paperwhite.

Amazon is about to announce a NEW Kindle next week, so you may or may not wait to wait and see what's up with that. Jeff Bezos Tweeted the hint just this past Monday.

I have a Paperwhite and a Voyage. The Voyage does have buttons on the sides and haptic feedback (they vibrate when you press them), but I find myself still using the touchscreen to turn pages. I bought my dad a Voyage because he's left handed and I thought the buttons would make more of a difference for him, since the screen press is less intuitive for a left-handed operator.

The Voyage is faster.

The Voyage has a better screen and better resolution. (So do newer Paperwhites, so check the dpi numbers for your model. The latest Paperwhites and the Voyage are 300 Dots Per Inch.)

The Voyage dedicates more space to getting you to buy new books and can look a little cluttered. The Paperwhite's latest update also dedicates more space to selling, but not as much. Both now pull in my To Read list from Goodreads, which I like.

The Voyage is a little lighter, which makes a difference if you carry it with you or travel with it.

The Voyage has an Automatic light setting that you can set and forget and it will increase or lower the light based on the room you are in. The Voyage also has a nightlight setting you can use. If that is activated, the light will dim over time if you are reading at night.

I keep my Paperwhite in my purse and my Voyage on my nightstand. If I am eating lunch or dinner out, I use my Paperwhite because if I get some crumbs on it, no big deal, it's my spare.

I love them both, but prefer the 300 dpi and the speed of the Voyage. If your Paperwhite is already 300 dpi and you're happy with the speed, you might want to hang onto it and wait to see what Amazon introduces in a few days.

The Paperwhite Library lists titles without thumbnails of the book covers and the Voyage lists titles with a picture of the book cover.

@ChynnaBlueThe part in red is incorrect.  I have a paperwhite and you can change it from List View to Grid View.  Grid View is large thumbnails of all the covers of your books.  You just select "all Items" and it has a drop down where you can change your settings there to show the covers of your books in your library.  Hope that helps.  I do like the thumbnails better.

Thanks, @mima! I didn't know they added that. It's probably been available since they came out with the Voyage with thumbnails and I never knew!

I prefer list view because I can see 8 things at a time instead of 6. But now that I know this, I might change my Voyage to list view! Smiley Happy

I edited my original post to remove the incorrect information.

Re: Kindle Paperwhite vs. Kindle Voyage

I've never even used list view, I upgraded to the paperwhite a couple years ago ( before the Voyage came out) and have always used the bookcovers.
