Kindle HD Mapquest App question

Hi, everyone! I am at my mother's trying to help her with a problem with her Mapquest app. When we use finger gestures (like pinching) to zoom, it doesn't stay and "snaps" back to the zoomed out position. Does anyone else have this problem? I couldn't find anything via a Google search about the problem. Maybe you can only zoom in so far? It just seems like it is too far out.

Second question, what map app does everyone use on their Kindle? Thank you!
