First, I am in Canada. I have gotten three emails showing purchases I never made on iTunes. After the first one, I changed my password and called Apple support.
The songs they said I purchased were not in my purchased file. I only use iTunes cards, not credit cards on iTunes so no worries there. Apple told me to delete the email, not to click on anything in the email, to check any credit card on file for unauthorized use. I did all that and have gotten two since then. One of my girlfriends got one of these as well.
Just curious how widespread the issue is. LM

Phishing (scam) emails and text messages concerning purchases from the iTunes and iBooks store are rampant. They all include a link which you should NOT CLlCK.
I have known at least 12 people who have gotten phishing text messages -- several in one family.
If you click the link in a text the scammer knows it's an active iPhone number -- DON'T CLICK!
