Please be AWARE of SCAMS - when people call u on the phone; send u an email or mail u a letter. Tell ur mother to always let u know who contacts her. YES - it's a SCAM!!!! A robo call to boot???? These scammers have program they use to call thousands of people an hour. Never reply or enter information.

Well I just saw on GMA this morning this scam is still around. Please be aware of it and notify any elderly people you know because they seem to be preyed upon the most.

Our local news said to report this to your local police and the regional office of the IRS. They need to catch these criminals.

The IRS will never, repeat never call you or email you your taxes.

Get an answering machine and use it.

We NEVER pick up our "house" phone unless we can identify the number on our call screener. Several weeks ago, one of these calls came through as a "local" call, and I answered it. Taped message! Phone frauds don't even feel the need to make live calls! I hope there is technology in the works to stop this intrusive annoyance!

The same thing happened to us last week. DH called a friend of ours who works for the IRS, and it IS a scam. What was weird is that the incoming caller ID read IRS, which was a bit scary.

Funny thing about the phone calls. Many years ago we did get an IRS call that was on the up and up. I refused to answer any questions and asked our accountant. It was the IRS but they got so many calls from people thinking it was a scam that the practice was quickly discontinued. I remember asking them at length many questions like: are you from the IRS of the US Government and also wanting a phone number to call back.

This is a well known scam. And it isn't just for seniors,my daughter's boyfriend got the call and he's no where near senior age. It must be working for the jerks if they're still at it after all this time.

She should report it to the local PD. It would be nice if the Feds would stop these scammers: perhaps if enough reports come in they will do something. Apx six mos ago I got a strange call from "Windows" from a guy with an Indian accent, demanding I turn on my computer 'cause Windows needed to do a very important update. When I finally told him - well you know what I told him - he threatened to come to my home (supposedly he could tell where I lived - yah, right!). So, I copied down his number and called my local PD. They told me this scam was going around the area, stating how someone's computer was tied up for an entire day - with access to banking info, et al. The PD was working on it. Also said they would put out a warning on media warning people of this scam. (They also said not to worry - my dog had every right to protect us from intruders and would not get in trouble. I had called just in case they did track me down and came here 'cause my little honey bunny - a big girl (95lbs) - is extremely protective of us - if someone touches the gate to come to the back door without my permission - well, people tend to back off.) Anyways, definitely report this incident to the local PD so that others can be forewarned.
