I  have a 2015 MacBook which I LOVE but after being upgraded twice it is getting time for new.  Not sure if I want to get an Ipad or another laptop.  I use it for emails, websurfing, banking, but that is about it.  Can you also print from an Ipad?  I am not a techy!!!

I'm Ipad all the way...  haven't used MacBook for years now so I'm sure it has a lot of improvements but in our family we all use IPad & IPhone (and yes you can print from them).

The only reason I have a laptop is because of work.  I have to work on a lot of spreadsheets and while I can do that on my iPad, it's easier to add formulas and export on the laptop for me.  If I didn't have to work on excel a lot I'd go with my iPad all the way.

You can print from an iPad if your printer has wireless capabilities, which most newer printers do.

I don't use a computer at all anymore, just my iPad.  I print things often.

Re: Ipad or MacBook air?

[ Edited ]

While I love my MacBook Air and recently purchased a new one several months ago, I have started to baby it. My screen had gotten cracked very easily so I only use it (carefully) on my desk in my office or at the kitchen table.

It was only two years old and had minor cracks on the screen form from maybe a pen being placed between the keyboard and lid. After doing some research on this it's not uncommon.

Now I use my IPad most of the time. I'm on it right now lying in bed with Covid.

@bargainsgirl I have an IPad and the Air.  In 14 years I am on my third Air and I would never give them up.  One met with an accident, by the way.

You can always do what you need to do quickly and more easily on the air.  The keyboard is great, sits on your lap, and the screen is great and oriented where you need it.  It is light, full function, and user friendly.  I wouldn't even consider not having an Air for an IPad.  I only use the IPad to view magazines and photos for the most part.

Laptop and desktop (both are lenovo) due to the need for excel. I have an iPad but don't use it, but my DH does.

I love my MacBook Air and my husband loves his I pad. I find he I pad very heavy to hold. I like the MacBook sitting on my lap rather than holding it I pad in my hands

I have both an iPad Pro and a MacBook Air.

I love and use them both equally, and for different reasons.

The iPad is a dream to travel with. It's lightweight and the long battery life means I don't often need to hunt for a charging port in the airline club or hope the ones on the aircraft actually work. They rarely do, and they don't really charge, they just keep it from loosing any more life.

The MacBook is the one I use the most when I'm not traveling. Battery life isn't quite as long as the iPad, but I'm a pretty heavy spreadsheet user, and the full version of Numbers is much more robust than that available for the iPad. It also has significant storage capacity.

@bargainsgirl - yes, you can print from an iPad. I've done it a few times, but I don't like using up paper. I mostly print things to PDF's and then store them in the appropriate file on my laptop. Of course, it gets backed up regularly.

I have a MacBook Air and iPad Pro that I always keep on its Magic Key Board so it's like using a laptop to me.  I can type just like on a laptop and I never use the keyboard on my iPad.  I have the 11/12 inch iPad Pro and love it.  I never actually hold the iPad in my hands as I think it's too heavy for that so I purchased the keyboard when I got the iPad.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.
