Hi all,
Amazon is selling the newest Gen 10 ipad for 11% off ($399).
good deal.
I had no trouble transferring data from my old IPad to the new one.
My gen 6 was only worth about $50, so it's going to my grandson. I doubt that older iPads are worth trying to exchange. Probably best just to recycle them.

@SeaMaiden, whenever you charge your device, it backs up to your Apple iCloud account. You can check to see when your last back was, go to the Settings app, then your name at the top, then find iCloud, find iCloud backup, it will show you when it was last backed up.
I, also, Googled what shoud I do when trading in an iPad for a new one. It will give some step by step instructions. Eventually, you'll need to remove the iPad that was traded in from your Apple iCloud account but I wouldn't do that until you have the new one all ready and updated.
Oh, and Best Buy will also match Amazon's price.

I bought my latest Ipad, stand and pencil from Sam's Club.

@SeaMaiden I like to buy my Apple products at the Apple Store. I am not technology savvy. They help me in ways I did not know I would need. (One told me to charge my phone on the iPad charger and it would be much faster.) If you have one in your vicinity, I would go to the store.
That being said I have ordered an iPad and an iPhone from the Apple website. (I moved to a town without an Apple Store.) Their shipping and communication is fantastic. I was able to get both done, but the devices they replaced were not very old.
Enjoy your new iPad.

@SeaMaiden I just bought a new iPad two weeks ago. Mine died. I bought directly from the Apple Store. 10th gen iPad is available, but I bought the 9th gen. Regular iPad, not the pro or air.
I gave them my old iPad to destroy and recycle. As far as buy back/ trade in, I guess it depends on how old those iPad of yours are. Most likely won't get anything for them if they are very old and they have quit supporting them.
Do you back up your current iPad to the cloud? If you do, setting up your new one is a breeze. Everything that has been backed up to the cloud gets downloaded to your new pad, including your current settings etc. However, at the Apple Store they will help you set it up, if you are not sure how to do it. Just be prepared to spend some time there.

@SeaMaidenI would buy ONLY from Apple. If you have an Apple Retail store nesarby, go there. They'll transfer all of your info to the new iPad. I think ou can trade in your old iPads for credit towards a new one. I think they clean off the data before getting rid of the old ones. I'm not sure how the mail order process works. Either way, I recommend Apple Care to extend the warranty and free service calls to the Apple Techs.

@SeaMaiden If you purchase an apple product from an authorized dealer, you can get help from the apple store, or apple phone customer service. They don't care where you bought it. If you call, they will ask for the serial number so make sure you have that at hand. If buying something expensive, I do recommend the extended warranty. I have used it. I have bought items from Amazon and have them serviced at the Apple store, no problem. Apple typically wants you to make an appointment, which can be done online. You may also be able to get help just dropping in, but they like the appointments.
As to whether you can get anything for your old ipads, look at the apple store online, ipads, I believe you can get an estimate of their trade in value. Not all devices are eligible for credit. Older devices may not be eligible, and those that are eligible, the older that they are, the smaller the credit. The trade-in values will vary based on the device, model, year, and condition. Trade-in value may be applied towards a new purchase, or added to an Apple Gift Card. I don't think they will accept 2 trade ins for one purchase, but all your devices may not qualify if they are 10 years old. If they are no longer upgradable to the current operating system, they probably don't have a trade in value. That is the only thing that typically moves me to purchase new, that they are no longer upgradable. If your device isn't eligible for credit, they'll recycle it for free. Just make sure to reset the device to clear your data.
I believe Best Buy also issues credits for old devices, so you may want to check into that. Don't know anything about it other than that.
