I'm the OP of this thread and I still haven't gotten a new computer! I was in Best Buy today picking up ink for my printer. I was looking around at the various laptops and I am more confused than ever! Do I want a MacBook Pro or Air, a 2-1 tablet/laptop, one that is on a hinge, my head is ready to explode! I don't know how much memory I need/want, I know I currently have an i5 and like that. Oh yeah, did I also tell you I'm not computer  savvy in the least?I know that no one can tell me what I should get but if anyone has any advice on the different types of laptops that are available I would welcome any information that you can offer me!

Have you checked Consumer Reports online and looked at their reviews?   IMO, this could be very helpful, and very objective.

I have not looked at Consumers Reports. I thought the website limits content if you are not a subscriber?  I was looking at the Dell TSV but passed as I haven't had any experience with Dell. There were things this computer didn't have that were important to me and I felt like I would be settling if I bought it.

You have to subscribe to get into the site. The computer info is not all that.

You should consider going to an Apple Store and talking with the sales staff.

Re: In The Market For A New Laptop

I saw on a website someone posted the other day that Apple was the no. 1 laptop and a Dell was the no. 2.  I was so surprised.

Re: In The Market For A New Laptop

Does anyone have any opinions on Asus computers? I saw on Best Buy an Asus 2-in-1 15.6" Touch Screen Laptop Intel i5 12 GB Memory 1 TB Hard Drive for $799.99. It seems to have a lot of features that I'm interested in but I'm shying away because of the name, I don't know much about the brand.

Here's a list of how tech companies are ranked, hope it helps you find something

I was going to check out BestBuy, someone told me they have a re-stocking fee.

There's an Asus 15.6 flip on the other shopping channel that seems to have good

ratings - is it worth the 700 price tag?

This computer has a standard 5400 RPM HD, not a SSD. It is slow.
