IPod Touch 4g - Something I learned at the Apple Store

The functions you use - E-mail, Safari, Contacts, etc. - continue to run in the background when you put the Touch to sleep, unless you turn each one off.

To close them, quickly press twice on the home screen button, and the icons for everything that is still running will show up at the bottom of the screen. Press any icon, and a minus sign will appear in the corner of each one. Pressing on the minus sign of each one, stops them from running. Tapping the screen restores the full home screen. This saves battery power.

I could not find this function on my 2g. Does anyone know if it is there?
