IPad or Kindle-- Help!!!!

I am not computer savy so explain simple please. I am 58 yrs young. have eye problems. I have a computer but have days I do not have the energy to walk to the computer or get tired of sitting in the computer chair. I want to be able to read books, play games, read e-mail and search the web. I want to stay under $350.00 if possible. I went to the store and looked at the 7" Kindle fire. I had no trouble reading the book section because I could change the font size. I am concerned about the size and being able to see the e-mail and seeing items on the web. Your help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
