IPAD QUESTION????

I was going to order my IPad from the Apple Store and I noticed that most people for some reason buy a black pad more often than the white. Is the screen brighter with the black around it? Most TV screens are also black. There must be a reason. Could you please let me know your thoughts on this? Thanks.
