Trying to get rid of cable. Bought a fire stick and an adapter for my non-smart tv. What are the best streaming companies that I need to subscribe to next?

If anyone has gone through my situation, please help.

Have you checked to see what you can get over the air?  Sometimes it can be a lot.

We subscribe to:

Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Starz and Disney +

Probably Netflix and Disney + are our favorites (especially when Grands visit.  We don't think networks are going to have much new programming this year.

Cable.............like around our neck.   Spectrum bill went up $2 + change this month.

Their TV ad says...........'we're here for you"

I say - no, we're here for you and keeping you in business.

By all means, get an inexnsive interior antenna.  I got a Mohu Urban interior antenna for about $13., on Amazon.  If you like movies, Netflix is cheap entertainment.  I also subscribe to Sling and get streaming on many cable channels.  All of this gives me plenty to watch.  I get 50 channels, including all the local channels, PBS, QVC, HSN, JTV on my antenna.

See....I've never even seen Netflix nor do I stream nor do I watch for entertainment - ever.

If not hard news I might watch a Weather Channel documentary on weather situations - or Canadian productions of real life situations....and a couple of local channels (news)

I'm still 'employed' so sitting to watch an old time movie ain't of interest.

Thanks for the suggestion tho.

@patbz    I don't know why I didn't think of this when the kids were with you.  Have you discovered the series "Heartland" on Netflix?  It's family drama produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Co.  There are 11 years of long seasons available.  It's about the trials and tribulations of a ranch family in Alberta near Banff NP.  Scenery is gorgeous.  All episodes are extremely well written and engrossing.  Lots of animals, especially horses.  I just loved it and got my sister addicted to it.  I'm waiting for Season 12.  My favorite TV series of all time.

@Kachina624 Oh thank you for the recommendation for Heartlands. I've heard of it but had no idea what it was about. Sounds like something I will love, thank you! I love anything with lots of animals, too and love things set in Canada.

@Libra2

I have cable TV and a few streaming services.

Please research will an indoor antenna work where you live. You have to be within a certain range to receive a signal.

There are places online that talk about the cost of cutting cable.

Will a Roku or your Fire stick work best with your current TV.

I have Hulu and just installed the Peacock TV app on a tablet and my smartphone the other day.

Hulu gives you all the content from NBC, FOX, and ABC.

Peacock TV has some original content and all of NBC offering. I get it free from Comcast with service.

YouTube has very good programming and even free movies.
