I'm getting a message that my computer can not upgrade to Windows 10

Windows 10.png

I have Windows 7. Any ideas on what I should do? I don't want to call Dell if I don't have to. The above message I got from Get Windows 10 App looks like my computer can't get Windows 10. My computer has tried many times to upgrade, but it keeps failing. Has anyone else gotten this message? Thanks!

Have you read all the reviews on Windows 10???    You might be better off keeping "7"..............that's what I plan on doing.

We recieved the same message.on both our desk top and our lap top.  Having the fellow who built the desk top come out and give us estimate on upgrading one or both.  May or may not be worth it.  I haven't read any reviews of 10 but will after seeing the other reply.

Forced obsolescence. Welcome to the club. I'm a MAC user, currently with OSX 10/6/9 Snow Leopard. Apple is already done with the "cat" systems and into Yosemite/El Capitan. I'll need to by a new one soon. Thanks not.

There is an old expression that applies to window upgrades. If it is not broke, do not fix it.

Re: I'm getting a message that my computer can not upgrade to Windows 10

have you done all the windows routine upgrades first?

if yes then you probably should just let it go and use that one until it gives up the ghost and buy a new one when you are ready.

FWIW my laptop would not accept the Win10 app until I had updated my current version.

However some older versions of 7 are not eligible I believe

Based on the error message you're getting, it sounds like your WiFi driver doesn't have a Windows 10 version currently available. You can check with Broadcom via their website to see if they have one available or in the works.

I  have the same message. I have never been successful at upgrading any computer. My present computer is about five years old and I recently bought a Mac book Pro because I  no longer wanted to deal with windows. I am considering buying a new computer that already has windows 10 on it  simply to replace my old one  for doing things like taxes etc.

I found this forum post that suggests disabling the Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter, then downloading Windows 10.

The same suggestion is in HP's forum too.

Re: I'm getting a message that my computer can not upgrade to Windows 10

I currently have Windows 7, and my laptop is a 2009 IBM Inspiron 1545 64 based PC with 4 GB RAM.  I've had lots of problems with this laptop (not with the hardware, but with software and internet speed).  I'll be getting a stronger Gateway router/modem on Monday.

I have the Windows 10 upgrade icon on the bottom right of my screen.  I keep getting messages in Windows Update that shows update to Windows 10 failed, although I never reserved Windows 10.  It's tried every day for several days to update automatically and failed each time.

I've been wanting to replace my laptop, and am wondering if anyone has purchased a new laptop with Windows 10 already installed?  If so, how do you like it?  What brand/model laptop did you purchase?

I looked at one HP laptop with Windows 10 (touchscreen) that Costco was selling.  It only has an Intel i3 processor, however.
