Re: How to opt out of Amazon's Sidewalk

@Catlady Nicole and @Aresnz   Maybe this will explain why you are not finding Sidewalk in your Account Settings.

From USA Today:

Here is the list of devices Amazon says support Sidewalk:

Ring Floodlight Cam (2019)
Ring Spotlight Cam Wired (2019)
Ring Spotlight Cam Mount (2019)
Echo (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Dot (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Dot for Kids (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Dot with Clock (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Plus (all generations)
Echo Show (all models and generations)
Echo Spot
Echo Studio
Echo Input
Echo Flex
Sidewalk will also be supported by Tile, Bluetooth trackers owners can use to keep tabs on their keys, wallet or other important items.

Re "Sidewalk:"

I found out this morning when I called Amazon that the"Sidewalk" link will appear in the Alexa app under the Account Settings category ONLY if you have an eligible device. In the case of echo and dot devices, that would be third generation and newer. Here is the list they sent me of eligible devices:

Ring Floodlight Cam (2019)
Ring Spotlight Cam Wired (2019)
Ring Spotlight Cam Mount (2019)
Echo (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Dot (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Dot for Kids (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Dot with Clock (3rd gen and newer)
Echo Plus (all generations)
Echo Show (all models and generations)
Echo Spot
Echo Studio
Echo Input
Echo Flex

Wow!  I immediately checked my settings and Sidewalk doesn't appear there at all.  Anyone experienced that yet?

It did not appear in either my Alexa or my ring ap.  I just turned off sharing on both my Alexa and Ring app.

Remember when Comcast/Xfinity started doing this with our WiFi?

Some nerve!

I do not remember (not a Comcast user), but read Comcast at least asked permission to enable it.  Is that true?

@Catlady Nicole - I've looked twice and do not see anything that says "Sidewalk".

Oh, good, now I know why I never allowed Alexa and its siblings and cousins into my house. I knew there must be a reason--it kinda creeps me out--I just couldn't explain it. Smiley Wink

Meanwhile, it's very clever of them to pull this off, and I'm glad it's at least possible to opt out. And how clever of you to post this to help all the Alexa victims, er, users.

Comcast never asked permission. It was enabled automatically. You had to disable the feature if you didn't want it. According to Comcast, it didn't use your bandwidth as they had a second transmitter built-in for the Comcast signal, but it did use your power. They used to advertise how many millions of hotspots they had, but those hotspots were customers' routers they were freeloading on.

If you are not seeing Sidewalk update your Alexa app.

The eyes through which you see others may be the same as how they see you.
