How to Tell If You Have the Updated Version of 8.1

I found out that there's an updated version of 8.1. If you have 8.1, even on a brand new computer, like mine, you may not have (or want it). Just look on your Start screen at the to right, next to your name and picture or person icon. If you have the update, you will see a white Power icon and another icon beside it. Just passing along some information. I'm not sure I want it. I've spent all week adjusting to what's already on my version. BTW, if you are looking for My Computer, in 8.1 it's renamed My PC or something like that. As usual, I can't find the darn thing. That's the problem with this silly Operating System, no rhyme or reason for things. Very disorganized and counterintuitive. Too many things hidden. You never know if you have to right click or left click if you have a laptop. If a grocery store was organized like this is, you would find the canned peas underneath a steak and they would rename the Dairy Section, The Area, just to confuse you.

You are aware that if you do not install this Spring update from Microsoft that the version you use now and the original windows 8 is no longer supported right? That means you WILL NOT get any more security updates or anything of the like.

I have my computer set fir automatic updates. I am wondering why it hasn't updated so far. BTW, My Computer is now called This PC and I found the icon for it on the apps page, in the section called Windows System. William Joseph, if you are available, did you go to Microsoft page for the update, or did it come to you through automatic update. The Microsoft Page says that if I have auto update it will do this automatically. I wonder why it hasn't done so?

The auto update had it ready to install. I don't know why it just didn't update by itself, but letting me check is probably a good thing.

DH said on his updates that this update was not checked that he had to update it himself. He does not let all the updates automatically update. He chooses what he wants. He said you can still stay with Windows 8 & get updates or you can upgrade to 8.1 but need the update before 5-13-14. At least this is what it says in the Windows Secrets newsletters.
