How do you do a system restore?

Hi all,

My neighbor recently purchased the HP TSV which turned out to be a dud. If only we talked sooner,{#emotions_dlg.sad}. She wants to do a system restore before returning it. Is there a way she can restore the computer back to its factory settings if the restore function is not working? She is freaking out as she didn't want to take a chance and send it back as is with the system fully loaded.
