I have Windows 10 and have a couple of problems.

1)  My screen shot keeps jumping around and I can't see where I am touching anything, but maybe I'm touching the pad you use if you don't have a mouse.

2)  I am locked out of my Word program.  I have changed password but it then tells me it wants my PIN.  I have no idea what it is, and it says "Can reset your PIN by going to Settings>Account>Sign-In Options."  I have no idea where to even start this.  What settings are they talking about?

Thank you for your help in this endeavor.

@wismiss    Check the icons on your screen.  You should have one called "Settings".  I'm not familiar with Windows 10, but every device I ever had had " Settings".

Windows 10 comes with a built in "Get Help" application.  To open the Get Help App, all you have to do is click on the Start button and type "Get Help". You will find an app and click on it.  A virtual agent will help you. I hope this helps.

@wismiss  Go to start (put mouse arrow on the icon at the bottom left that looks like four squares). Left click and it will open. Above the on off button icon there is one that looks like a wheel. Click on that and it will take you to settings. HTH

How old is your computer?  Is it still under warranty?  Do you have software tech support?  If so, call them.

If not.

Turn off your computer to see if that doesn't resolve your problems.

There are many on the internet who have the answers.  Just ask your questions in search.  Look on Youtube, as well.

Always, before you do anything make sure you don't have a virus.  Is your software running slow, as well?  Run a full scan with your anti-viral program.  Also, a stand alone viral program.  Download Malwarebytes that just scans your system. It's free. Don't download their anti-viral software that continuously operates in the background.  They will charge you for that and you don't want two antiviral programs constantly running at the same time.

Jumpy screens could mean you need to upgrade your graphics driver or need a new card, but there are other reasons.

I never had Word ask for a pin number.  Windows does, but they also give me the option to use a password. Word always opens up when I log on to Windows.

Look up on the internet how to access your pin number if you gave Microsoft one.  I never used a pin number, only a password.

You can try using Windows Restore, but do your antiviral scans first.

There are so many issues that can cause these things.  Sometimes, it's just try this, try that, until problems are resolved.

If you can't resolve the problem on your own, you can call Microsoft about the Word problem or find a local tech to look at it for you.  You probably don't want to do that, but sometimes it's a last resort.

Word has gotten a bit quirky lately. I'm using Windows 11 and when I try to launch a Word file from the "Recommended" list, it wants me to log in to open the file. But it doesn't want my normal password, it wants an app password that I have to have generated. If I just open Word first and then open the file from Word it works fine. If I try to use the shortcut, it throws hurdles in the way. Why? Who knows. Computers do what computers do. This is a relatively recent issue. I just open Word first now and open the file from there. The "faster" way of opening a file isn't faster if you have to have an app password generated and entered each time you try to access that file.
