I hope someone can help me with this. I have an HP Envy touchsmart sleek book. A few days ago, when wanting to open Internet Explorer through my desktop tile (not through the IE tile). a box shows up saying "A Webroot critical error occurred". In the box, it says " failed to find required file" and then it lists the file. Webroot is the virus protection that came with the laptop. While the box is showing, IE home page will not show. When I close the box, IE home page will not show. The circle keeps spinning and it says " waiting for att.yahoo.com". When I open my Webroot icon, everything is running just fine. Thank you to anyone who can help. I hate to call Geek squad or to take my laptop somewhere over this.

You can find the answer in the Webroot community section. It's an apparently common problem. Here's the link:

Thank you knmt. I just called Webroot customer service and the connection was terrible. She said it wasn't a Webroot problem, but some of my applications weren't working properly. She wanted a onetime fee to fix it. I said no. I will check out your info and go from there. Thanks again.

Problem solved. I ended up taking my laptop to a computer place that I had used several times before when I used my desktop. I'm having them do other things, so it was best to have professionals do it. I feel better knowing it's all being done.
